We are a consultancy that helps our customers garner an accurate understanding of what is driving trends in the world today, and where these things are taking us in the future. We look at developments in technology, their socioeconomics and environmental impacts; currents in the geopolitical climate, as well as consumer patterns of consumption and behaviour. We draw from a variety of sources to get to the reason why. What makes us particularly unique, is our vision led through a cultural anthropological lens. Our world is a combination of its natural state of the planet in combination with the social construct of the society we live in. By taking a universal approach we develop an accurate understanding as to the motivating drivers behind the why.
Let us help you understand the why and what is guiding us forward.
Hello! My name is Suzanne Snygg, founder of Sterna Volans. I have a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology, a Master’s in Environment, Politics & Globalisation, and am a couple of classes shy of a B.S. in Biology. Professionally I have over 20 year's experience, primarily in the high tech industry. I’ve worked as a market trends analyst and within think tank organizations, however equally I’ve worked in product management and development. Consequently, I believe that the greatest value in research is when that knowledge in actively incorporated into a product or service. There is often the danger that after the report is read, or the presentation given, that the knowledge becomes simply an academic exercise. Therefore, I work very closely with my clients to coach them into understanding how to best use research learnings in context with their business strategy and the forces that are driving trends, to make the best use of their knowledge. Knowledge is indeed very powerful, if used wisely.
Sterna Volans offers three core services: market research, international business diplomacy and content writing. Contact us to find out how we best be of service to help you solving your business needs.
"Sterna" is derived from the Old English word "stearn" which appears in the poem "The Seafarer." It's used today as the as the name for the genus classification of tern. In Latin, "volans" means to fly or move swiftly. Hence “Sterna Volans” loosely means ‘flying tern’. Arctic terns (Sterna paradisaea), are quite remarkable in that despite their relatively small size they annually migrate from polar region to polar, flying along to coasts and out into the open waters of the major oceans of the world. Inspired by the nimble, but powerful tern, we scan the globe to find the answers we seek.
